From Tarryn Soderberg, Director of Tarryn Teresa Gallery:
After
two-and-a-half years of solo and group exhibits at Tarrryn Teresa
Gallery, I have decided to take the gallery in a new and exciting
direction. Along with our program of inventive and challenging exhibits,
the gallery has organized a couple of public art displays. I have found
these installations to be quite rewarding. Public art plays an
important part in the art world and uniquely enhances the daily
experience of those who encounter it. Our first experience with public
art, Lights on LA, was wonderful. Working with over 250 local artists for one exhibit proved to be a lot of work, but it was well worth it.
For
the time being, I will be shifting focus completely to public art
installations. We will not be hosting any shows in our gallery space
indefinitely. The current space will be used as headquarters for the
development and planning of a full slate of public art projects. This
leads me to some sadder news: I will no longer be keeping full- and
part-time staff in Los Angeles. Elizabeth Williams will remain on staff
until the end of December. She has been with Tarryn Teresa Gallery
since the beginning and will be staying in the arts industry in some
capacity.
I
will, however, coordinate occasional group/solo exhibits at satellite
locations. These events will be by invitation-only. If you would like to
be notified of these events, please email us at info@tarrynteresa.com to be added to the invite list. Please put "invite list" in the subject line.
Lights On... will take place in San Francisco next. There has been an enormous response and a lot of interest in Lights On... project and hopefully it will continue to grow. Please stay connected to us through Facebook and our website to learn about all the upcoming public installations.
It
has been wonderful exhibiting in a gallery space and I will miss the
day-to-day experiences. However, I feel this growth is necessary and I
am eager to embrace the challenges that come with public art displays.
There
will not be regular hours at the gallery, but I will be available by
appointment. The contact information will remain the same.
I hope to continue to receive the support of the community and to make a difference in an area I have just started to explore.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all.
Sincerely,
Tarryn Soderberg
